An Australian AVӰԺship is an employment and education pathway that combines paid on-the-job training and formal study with a Registered Training Organisation.

The term 'Australian AVӰԺship' is used to cover both apprenticeships and traineeships. An Australian AVӰԺ can refer to either an apprentice or trainee.

What's the difference between apprenticeships and traineeships?

    • Are available in trade areas such as building and construction, commercial cookery, automotive, engineering, manufacturing and more.

    • Generally take between 12 and 24 months to completedepending on the qualification.
    • Are available in services areas such as business, retail, community health, childcare, hair and beauty, financial services and more.

Australian AVӰԺships are competency-based, which means completion can occur at any stage as long as all parties agree that the required skills (competencies) have been achieved.
